CAVE System
- CAVE follows the paradigm of an in-trunk or under-seat CD changer. The
player unit contains electronics and hard disks and actually plays and
processes the audio. The remote head unit, which can mount in or on your
dashboard provides the means to control the player. The top-of-the-line
MkIII head unit provides a 240x64 color graphics-capable LCD with a touch
screen.
- The MkII player uses up to two 2.5" IDE notebook disks for small size, robustness,
and tolerance to shock and vibration. The disks are written using the
industry-standard FAT32 file system. You can add disks to the player in the
field without losing your existing music and playlists!
- The MkII player connects to your PC via USB 2.0 to
transfer music between your PC and the player.
- The MkII player supports 802.11b wireless for copying music data to the
player, or wirelessly streaming music from your home network.
- The MkII player supports up to 320kbit/sec MP3 playback. All bit rates
are supported, including VBR.
- Volume, bass, treble are adjustable. Auxiliary inputs allow you to
connect other devices or connect the CAVE player in a pass-through fashion,
in-line with your existing CD changer, or to connect a portable device to
your car stereo.
- Custom switch mode power supply allows operation from 8-16VDC. Protection
is included for automotive power situations.
- Varying degrees of information display are possible with the head unit.
Artist, track, album, color thumbnails of album covers, etc. are all
supported.
- Many control sources are supported, including infrared remote controls,
the Sony RM-X4S steering column controller, Palm and other portable
computing devices, and on some head units, a touch screen.
- Your music library is managed via a Windows, BSD, or Linux
application. Playlists are created manually and automatically (e.g.
auto-generation of genre playlists).
